The Horadric Cube is one of the most useful crafting tools introduced during the Lord of Hatred campaign in Diablo 4. Once unlocked, it gives players access to a broad selection of crafting, rerolling, upgrading, recycling, and transmutation options. For players who regularly collect Diablo 4 Items, understanding when the Cube becomes available and how its recipes work can make inventory management and gear progression much more efficient. Unlocking the Horadric Cube The Horadric Cube is not available at the beginning of the campaign. Players need to progress through the Lord of Hatred story until they reach the quest associated with obtaining the Cube. Because this quest appears relatively close to the end of the campaign, you will need to spend some time completing the story before gaining access to its features. Once you finish the required quest, travel to Temis in Skovos. The Cube can be found resting on its pedestal near the center of the main hub's craftsman's area. After reaching this location, the Cube becomes available for crafting and item management. How the Cube Works Using the Horadric Cube is relatively straightforward. You can select one of the available recipes from its interface, or manually place the required materials and equipment into the appropriate slots. Every recipe has its own requirements. Some focus on modifying existing equipment, while others allow you to transform several items into something different. Before starting a craft, check the listed ingredients carefully because some recipes require specific dust rarities or Tuning Prisms. Primordial Dust Requirements Primordial Dust is an important component of many Horadric Cube recipes. Several rarities exist, and the required type depends on the particular function you want to perform. Primordial Dust drops randomly during gameplay, but certain activities can provide better opportunities to obtain it. Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons are particularly useful activities to run when you need more materials. Regularly completing these activities can help you maintain a supply for future Cube crafting. Adding and Removing Affixes The Cube provides several ways to change equipment. The Add Affix recipe requires a non-Unique item, Coarse Primordial Dust, and Raw Primordial Dust. A Tuning Prism can also be included optionally. Players can remove an affix from Magic or Rare equipment by using Refined Primordial Dust, Raw Primordial Dust, and a required Tuning Prism. These functions provide additional control over equipment customization and can be useful when preparing gear for specific builds. Rerolling Existing Equipment Chaotic Reroll and Focused Reroll allow players to modify Magic, Rare, or Legendary equipment. Both require Refined Primordial Dust and 15 Raw Primordial Dust. The main difference is the Tuning Prism requirement. Chaotic Reroll treats the Prism as optional, while Focused Reroll requires one. Players should therefore consider their available materials before deciding which option to use. Transfiguring and Rerolling Unique Powers Transfigure Item works with Legendary, Unique, or Mythic equipment and requires Volatile Primordial Dust. A Tuning Prism can be added optionally. For Ancestral Unique equipment, the Unique Power Reroll recipe uses Attuned Primordial Dust. A Tuning Prism is also optional for this recipe, giving players another way to adjust powerful gear. Upgrading and Transmuting Items The Cube also supports several transformation recipes. Three items of the same type can be combined through the 3-to-1 Transmutation function. Three copies of the same Unique can also be recycled. Common equipment can be upgraded to Unique using Enhanced Primordial Dust and Raw Primordial Dust. Rare equipment can be upgraded to Legendary with Pure Primordial Dust and Raw Primordial Dust, with a Tuning Prism being optional for the latter recipe. Charms and Amalgamation The Horadric Cube also expands customization beyond standard equipment. Players can reroll a Set Charm using Raw Primordial Dust and Infused Horadric Resin. Crafting a Unique Charm requires an Ancestral Unique Item, three Unique Charms, Enhanced Primordial Essence, Raw Primordial Dust, and Infused Horadric Resin. Amalgamation provides another useful option by combining five items of the same type and rarity. This can help turn unwanted duplicate equipment into a more organized crafting process. Make the Cube Part of Your Progression The Horadric Cube becomes especially valuable once players understand how its different recipes fit into their regular gameplay loop. Gathering Primordial Dust through activities such as Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons gives you the materials needed to experiment with rerolls, upgrades, and transformations. Once unlocked near the end of the Lord of Hatred campaign, the Cube becomes a central tool for refining equipment and making better use of surplus materials. Learning its recipes early will help you spend resources more deliberately as your character continues to develop.
